The Rev. J. Bruce Baker, Pastor

Christian Education is an important part of our ministry here at All Souls, with a wide range of classes and educational experiences available. A list of classes and upcoming events is provided in the church newsletter (The Messenger) and in the Worship bulletin.

Childrenspend the first fifteen minutes or so of Sunday worship with their parents, and then go off to their own service (see Worship Services).

Adults have a number of opportunities for growth.

  • The 8 o'clock Hour, meets on Sunday mornings from 8-9am, and is led by Ken Nilsen. We are currently discussing “The Cost of Discipleship", by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  A light breakfast of coffee, tea, and bagels is available.
  • Wednesday Morning Bible Study.
We will discuss one or more texts from our seasonal lectionary. We meet from 11am to noon on Wednesdays.

Liturgy Training is a three hour class held seasonally for the purpose of training those interested in leading worship. The class explores the power of the human voice in sharing God's Word, as well as the theological and historical significance of the liturgy and lessons.

Small Groups provide an important means for people to connect at All Souls Parish/The Presbyterian Church. Following in the tradition of the early church, small group fellowships gather for spiritual growth and the sharing of joys and needs. In our small groups close friendships are formed, care and support is given and faith deepened. Some small groups meet weekly, others bimonthly, and still others monthly. Most meet at the church, but some convene in homes or at other locations.

--Current small groups include: The Spirituality Group, which meets on the first and third Monday evenings of each month, at 7:30 in the church parlor. We are basing our discussions on the writings of Henry Nouwen. Nouwen has touched millions of people world-wide with his message of peace and healing. Contact Renate Sutterlin at the church for more information.

A Lenten Day of Quiet is offered each year on the Saturday before Holy Week.
